Races
Human-Kin - Closely related human races; See blow
Humans: The most common in Thelous is human. Legend has it that humans came first and the human-kin species descended from them. The truth was lost long ago. Humans are equally adept in any of the professions.
The Kumesh: They are most normal looking human of the human-kin species. The Kumesh liked to live underground and did most of the mining in Thelous.
Physically, the Kumesh differ slightly from humans with only being between 4 and 5 feet tall. They most times have brown or black are and a rough complexion and the males tend to be more hairier then human males.
The Kumash are less openly social then humans, which makes them less charismatic. They have great night sight that allows them to see up to 30 feet in total darkness and twice as far as humans in normal light.
The Yidda'lhn: These are the tall, slender, delicate features with light complexions, human-kin species. The males are about 7 feet tall with the females being smaller. They are intellectual and have social traditions on etiquette and scholarship.
The Notoc: Notoc are giants of Thelous. They are too large to ride horses but some have domesticated bears to ride. They are about 10 feet tall on average which makes them quite strong but they are slow.
The Tylliads: Tylliads are the smallest of the human-kin species, with only being 3 feet tall on average. They have fully functional, feathered wings attached at the shoulder blades. The feathers are normally white but can have patterns of light brown, light reddish brown, or Grey.
They rely on their power of flight and spend more time in the air then on the ground. It takes them less energy to fly then a human does to walk. They are vibrant, charismatic people.
They are gifted with 'psychic sensitivities.' They can with concentration, sense the presence of 'life energy' and evil or violent intent (danger). They however can not tell the location of the life energy or danger.
Their small size and semi-hollow bone structure makes them easy to kill. They are found living in cliffs or tree villages. They are not fond of getting wet, because wet wings are useless for flight.
The Shassin: They are pale, 'water folk' since they are water breathers as well as air breathers. They are more at home in the water then on land. They live near freshwater seas, or in karge lakes. They avoid the hot, dry regions. In desert-like climates they will suffer heat-stroke and dehydraed twice as fast as a human.
They lack body hair (does not include the head) and have webbing between their toes and fingers. They have a transparent, inner eyelid which allows them to see as well underwater as they do on land.
They can swim as fast as a human can run.
Elves - Elves are noble, magical beings with an elegance about them. They look young and have a great beauty about them with a soft glow. They are immortal and are not subject to age or disease though they can be slain or die of grief of a loved one.
Vampires: Are unliving, cursed species. They showed up after the Darkness came and soon spred the curse among the other species of Thelous. They have high charisma and may be irrsistible to members of the opposite sex.
Were-beings: Were-beings are also cursed members of the species, also showing up around the time of the Darkness. They appear as either man-wolves, man-tigers, or man-aps. Were-beings are powerful and are without fear and are immune to non-magical attacks. The curse can sometimes be broken by destroying the magical object (ring, amuley, statue, ect) responsible for the curse.
NonHuman-kin - Races not human like; See blow
The Skurr: These are the reptillian nonhuman-kin race. They use their long, slender tails to balance their walking. They are about 5 feet tall and their smooth, reptilian skin varies from green to brown in color. Skurr eye colors are emerald green with black flecks. Skurr are not warm blooded, therefore can not be in cold areas. They enjoy the swamp and bayou however. If they get too cold they will go dormant until they warm back up.
Skurrs can sense vibrations. They can not change forms.
The Jedkree: Jedkree are the most unusual of all the species. Legend has it, in centuries past an evil mage set about to create an evil army. His army would be of Gargoyles, fierce non-human warriors from an alternate plane of existance. He had to trade humans for these gargoyles. He gathered 1,000 humans, male and female and did his magic. The trade started but something went wrong. Instead of simply tradeing places, the humans and Gargoyles merged together.
They were as tall as normal human and their anatomy was human from the neck down, however the resemblance ended their. Their heads were the heads of the Gargoyles and their skin tones were grey to dusky blue.
The wizard even though confused ordered his army to take arms but they refused. The magic user attacked them with his magic but nothing happened. Scared by the flashes of light they killed him.
Magic has no effect on them, in return they can not use any magic. They have a quiet nature and not warlike.
